Hi. Welcome to my blog.
I’m Damon Bay, a Kiwi artist and teacher based in Japan, where I have lived for over 25 years. I’m best known for my Photojiku, long vertical photographs printed on hanging scrolls made of Washi, a Japanese paper handcrafted by artisans.
I hold several exhibitions a year and have been featured in various TV programs, and magazine and newspaper articles. But the greatest highlights of my art journey so far are having published a book in 2016 and some of my photos being used in a Japanese postage stamp series in 2021.

私は在日25年のニュージーランド人の写真家で芸術家。教師でもあります。
私の代表作品は、手すき和紙に縦長の美しい風景を掛け軸のように印刷した「フォト軸」です。テレビ番組や雑誌、新聞の記事で取り上げていただき、年に数回、展示会などを開催しています。これまでの私の写真家キャリアの中で一番嬉しかったのは、2015年に写真集を出版したことと、2021年に私の写真が日本の切手に採用されたことです。
